Victor D. "Doc" Lundstrom, DVM, 86, of McPherson, died Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at The Cedars, McPherson. He was born on April 16, 1920, at Little River, the son of Fred N. and Agnes E. (Case) Lundstrom.

On June 2, 1946, he was united in marriage to Emagean M. Maison at Lyons. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2002. He was a graduate of Kansas State University and the KSU School of Veterinary Medicine. He owned and operated the McPherson Veterinary Hospital in McPherson for many years and was the oldest practicing veterinarian in the State of Kansas.

He served as 1st Lieutenant in the US Army during World War II in the 87th Chemical Mortar Battalion. He fought in the campaigns of Normandy (D-Day Invasion), Northern France, Central Europe, Rhineland, and Ardennes. He received the Bronze Star, the Croix de Guerre Medal with Silver Star from the French Government, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with five battle stars and one bronze arrowhead, and the Distinguished Unit Badge.

Doc was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #24, V.F.W. Post #2715, served on numerous city & county boards including the City Planning Commission, longtime volunteer for the McPherson County Humane Society, and was a Life Member of the Light Capital Kiwanis Club with 38 years of perfect attendance.

The memorial service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 22, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Marion and Rev. Harold Nelson presiding. Inurnment, with military honors provided by the Fort Riley Honor Guard, will be at McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Survivors include his daughters, Donna Lundstrom of Novato, CA and Jane Lundstrom Brown of Olathe, KS; brothers, Cecil Lundstrom of Hutchinson, KS, Max Lundstrom of Des Moines, IA, and Bob Lundstrom of Little River, KS; and a granddaughter, Lauren Brown.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Virginia Falen.
