Sheila S. (Engle) Schwartz, 59, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 8, 2012, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and had been a McPherson resident since 1989, moving from Garden City.

She was born on February 18, 1953, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Edwin R. and Barbara A. (Miller) Engle. She graduated from high school in 1971 at Olpe, Kansas. Sheila was united in marriage to Steven A. Schwartz on Dec. 29, 1973, in Garden City.

She volunteered many years in the Garden City school system, and also started a quilting guild in Garden City.

Family members include: her husband, Steven of the home; son, Troy Schwartz of McPherson, KS; mother and step-father, Barbara and Floyd Hagins of Cottonwood Falls, KS; brother, Eddie Engle and wife, Chris, of Reese, KS; sisters, Terry Miller and her late husband, Bill, of Emporia, KS and Cheryl Stegman and husband, Mike, of Garden City, KS; two grandchildren, Birkley Schwartz of Lincoln, KS and Gabriel Schwartz of McPherson, KS; and several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Engle.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 12, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Brian Perry officiating. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 11, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
