Richard Myers

Richard Eldon Myers, 84, of McPherson, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at the Salina Regional Health Center. Richard was born on May 12, 1925, in McPherson County, the son of Richard Dewey and Mildred Gwendolyn (Falgren) Myers. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1943 and attended University of Kansas. Richard served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On April 9, 1955, Richard was united in marriage to Norma Jean Stackhouse in McPherson. He was a retired Supervisor for Kansas Power & Light Co., working there for 36 years.

Richard was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #24 and served as a volunteer for the McPherson Fire Department.

The memorial service will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, Sept. 21, at the First United Methodist Church, McPherson with Rev. Karen Rice Ratzlaff and Rev. Harold Nelson officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in McPherson Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #24 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2715. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.

Survivors include: wife, Norma of the home; sons, David Myers and wife, Jennifer, of McPherson and Steven Myers and wife, April, of Apache Junction, AZ; daughter, Laurel Maloan and husband, Brian, of Garnett, KS; and four grandchildren.
