Ramona R. Fries

Ramona R. Fries, 95, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2014, at The Cedars, McPherson. She was born on May 23, 1919, the daughter of J. Howard and Margaret Gertrude (Hess) Fries, in McPherson, KS.

Ramona graduated from McPherson High School in 1937. In 1942, she graduated Cum Laude from McPherson College with Bachelor in Liberal Arts degree. Ramona then taught for two years, the first year in Moundridge and the second in Concordia. She then moved to Wichita, and in 1949, she worked at Wichita State in the College of Education Dean’s office. From 1951 until retirement in 1982, she worked as an office manager and medical assistant for W. Carter Goodpasture, M.D. at Wesley Hospital. In 1994, Ramona moved back to McPherson.

She was a member of the McPherson Church of the Brethren, where she was also baptized.

Survivors include: sister, Mildred Linville and husband, Howard, of Phoenix, AZ; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Harold and Arthur.

A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at McPherson Cemetery with Rev. Chris Whitacre officiating.
