Phyllis J. Lawrenz

Phyllis J. Lawrenz, 90, of McPherson, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was a tax preparer for Winslow Accounting and a McPherson resident since 1946.

She was born April 22, 1923, in Logan, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew V. and Cora M. (Meyer) Allen. In 1941, she graduated from Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

On February 14, 1943, she married Milton M. Lawrenz in Council Bluffs. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1973.

Survivors include: a son, Richard Lawrenz (Anita) of McPherson, KS; two daughters, Kathy Linsner of McPherson, KS and Marilyn Huber (Vern) of Galva, KS; 8 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Dan James Lawrenz, a sister, Margaret Jones, a brother, Vern Allen, and a son-in-law, Elwyn Linsner.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 27, at Grace Lutheran Church in McPherson with Rev. Dale Dumperth officiating. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
