Phyllis Darling

Phyllis J. Darling, 65, of Galva, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. Phyllis was born on November 28, 1943, in McPherson, Kansas, the daughter of August Eugene and Marjorie Elaine (Ek) Hawkinson. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1961 and graduated from Sidney's Hairdressing College in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was a beautician, restaurant manager, and manager of a bowling alley in Denton, TX.

Phyllis was a member of the New Gottland Lutheran Church and the Red Hat Society.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 2, at New Gottland Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the New Gottland Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday at Stockham Family funeral Home with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

Survivors include: two sons, Martin Peterson and wife, Laura, of McPherson, KS and Mike Peterson and fianc?, Christina, of Aubrey, TX; a sister, Sherry Truesdell and husband, Delbert, of Hutchinson, KS; her mother, Marjorie Hawkinson of Galva; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, August Eugene Hawkinson, and a son, Tony Peterson.
