Nickie Simpson

Nikki Simpson was born Nickie Geneva Finney on October 31, 1949. She received her education at Wann High School,and went on to become the first college graduate in her family by earning her degree in Nursing from Independence Community College and Parsons College in 1984.

After exploring different facets of nursing, Nikki found her calling in the field of psychiatric nursing, where she worked as a registered nurse in Independence, Ks., Wichita, Ks., St. Louis, Mo., and Bartlesville, Ok. She was a gifted nurse and counselor,and was beloved by many in the medical community.

Nikki considered her greatest accomplishment to be raising her three children into loving adults who respect and serve God. Nikki was blessed with two daughters and one son; Lee Ann Pierce and her husband, Chris, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Billy Clayton and wife, Candace, of Clarksville, Tennessee; Birgindi Clayton of Wichita, Ks.; five grandchildren, Brett Pierce and wife, Erin, Corleigh Cranor, Autumn Cranor, Adrienne Clayton, and Kenan Clayton; her mother and stepfather, Ellene and Boyd Peery, of McPherson, Ks.; two brothers and two sisters, Nancy Belknap and husband, Claude, of McPherson, Ks.; Gordon Finney and wife, Evelyn, of Lake Pomme De Terre, Mo., Marguerite Crockett and husband, Butch, of McPherson, Ks., and Kevin McKean and wife, Chris, of McPherson, Ks.; and many nieces and nephews.

Nikki was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Jack Finney, Sr., and a brother, Tom McKean.

In addition to her incredible love for her family, Nikki will be remembered for her multiple talents in the arts, most notable of which was her beautifully distinctive singing voice.

Nikki placed great value on her relationship with God, and drew her strength from the Lord throughout her life. Her family and friends will miss her greatly.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 22, at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in McPherson. There will be no visitation, however, the casket will be open at the church on Thursday prior to the service. Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Park, McPherson.
