Myrna M. Eis

Myrna Mae Eis, 80, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at The Cedars Health Care Center. She was a retired elementary school teacher and librarian, teaching in Downs, Galva, and Inman, Kansas.

Myrna was born on December 16, 1937, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Lewis Martin and Mary Ruth (Stonebraker) Nelson. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1955, McPherson College in 1961, and Emporia State Teacher’s College in 1972. Myrna was united in marriage to Beverly Leonard Eis on May 20, 1961, in McPherson, KS. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1963.

She was a member of McPherson Church of the Brethren, American Quilter’s Society, Gently Aged Ladies Quilting Group, Kansas Quilters Organization, and McPherson Area Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include: two sons, CW3 Walter Eis (Michelle) of Ft. Belvoir, VA and Martin Eis (Sharon) of Florissant, MO; siblings, Charles Nelson of Rio Rancho, NM, Laurel Williams (Larry Rynearson) of Glenwood Springs, CO, and Mabel Friesen (Dennis) of McPherson, KS; three grandchildren, Matthew Eis, Sarah Goda (Caleb), and Rebecca Eis; and numerous nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Mary Caruthers.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, June 4, 2018, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, June 5, at McPherson Church of the Brethren with Rev. Chris Whitacre officiating. A private burial will follow the service at McPherson Cemetery.
