Lu Wall

Lu Achilles Wall, 88, of McPherson, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at McPherson Hospital. Prior to retirement she worked for Hesston Corporation as an Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer.

She was born January 7, 1925 in Windom, KS, the daughter of George A. and Lydia L. (Noggle) Williams. She attended the local schools and graduated from Windom High School. She later attended Tulsa Business College, Draughton's School of Business (Tulsa) , and Tulsa University.

In 1948, she married Virgil W. Achilles. She later married John B. Wall in 1975. He died Dec. 7, 1992.

Lu was a member of McPherson Church of Christ, McPherson Opera House, McPherson Hospital Auxiliary, and McPherson Arts Council.

Survivors include: a son, Stanley Achilles (Connie) of Newton, KS; a sister. Virginia Crouse of Longview, WA; a sister-in-law, Deloris Williams of McPherson; four grandchildren, Ryan Achilles (Shannon) of McPherson, Chris Achilles (Aimee) of Manhattan, KS, Kristen McCormick (Luke) of Salina, KS, and Stephanie Achilles (fiancé, Mike Phetteplace) of Park City, KS; six great-grandchildren; and the family of John B. Wall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Micheal Achilles, three brothers, George, Gerald, and Robert Williams, and four sisters, Alberta Hood, Venita Cogdill, Ruby Preaus, and Opal Parks.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 10, at the Church of Christ in McPherson with Minister Glen Elliott officiating. Burial will be in the Windom Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
