Lewis Hendrix

Lewis L. "Lew" Hendrix, 72, of McPherson, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, surrounded by his family at McPherson Hospital.

Lew was born on January 14, 1940, in Syracuse, Ohio, the son of Woodrow Wilson and Emmeline Elizabeth (Phillips) Hendrix.

He had worked as a turbine operator at Board of Public Utilities and was a repair technician for Rankin Equipment.

On December 31, 1965, Lew was united in marriage to Marilyn E. Sjogren in Marquette, KS.

Lew served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960. He was the Commander of the Marquette American Legion Post #253 and the McPherson County Council. He also was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2715 Men's Auxiliary, Trinity Lutheran Church, and the McPherson Bowling Association.

Survivors include: his wife of 46 years, Marilyn of the home; daughters, Tracey (Robert) Miller of McPherson, KS and Linda (Albert) Lewis of Hedville, KS; siblings, Pete (Wanda) Hendrix, Norman (Violet) Hendrix, Dave (Janis) Hendrix, Lucy (Virgil) Pihl, Earl Hendrix, Gene (Emma) Hendrix, Dana (Wendy) Hendrix, Woody (Lisa) Hendrix, Debbie (Mike) Kauff, and Sally (Terry) Little; brother-in-law, Randy Adkins; and four grandchildren, Krystal Hendrix, Ashley Cruz, Jesse Freeman, and Taylor Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mary Adkins, Susie Parsons, and Emmeline Hendrix, and a sister-in-law, Linda Hendrix.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson with Rev. Tim Leaf officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors will be at the Marquette Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. A visitation and viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until service time on Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church.
