Kenneth Leroy Evans, 83, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 8, 2013, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. Moving to McPherson in 2000, he formerly lived in St. Louis, MO and Bella Vista, AR. Ken was a retired industrial arts teacher at Affton High School in Affton, MO.

Ken was born on March 7, 1929, in Holmesville, NE, the son of Robert and Alma (Overleese) Evans. He graduated from McPherson College in 1955. On August 11, 1954, he was united in marriage to Ruth A. Peckover in McPherson. She died December 4, 1984. Ken married Hazel Pauline (Castleberry) Shafer on August 17, 1989, in High Ridge, MO.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, McPherson, and The Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.

Survivors include: wife, Pauline of the home; daughter, Denise Schectman and husband, Hal, of Palo Alto, CA; brother, Jack Evans and wife, Dale, of Springfield, OR; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Ruth, son, Bruce Evans, and sisters, Marion Mares, Mildred Hardenbrook, and Eileen Stewart.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Rice Ratzlaff officiating. A private graveside service will precede the memorial service at McPherson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, Monday, February 11, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
