Jean Kline

Jean L. Kline, 90, of McPherson, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Loving Care of McPherson. She retired from Farmer's Alliance Insurance Co. in 1984, where she worked as an underwriter.

She was born January 29, 1922, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Roy L. and Marcia R. (Beam) Cotterill. She attended the local schools and graduated from McPherson High School. Following high school, Jean attended and graduated from Chillicothe Business School in Missouri.

On November 28, 1943, she was united in marriage to Clair F. "Shorty" Kline in McPherson, KS. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1997.

Jean was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Mary Martha Circle. She also was a member of Oriental Chapter #58 – Order of the Eastern Star, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, McPherson County Historical Society and was an active volunteer at McPherosn County Food Bank..

Survivors include: three children, Judie Battin and husband Brian, of Greenville, PA, Barbara Miller and husband, Gerald, of McPherson, KS, and Richard Kline and wife, Melanie, of Topeka, KS; five grandchildren; Douglas Battin and wife, Lynn, Richard Miller and wife, Leslee, Amy Fulcher, Bethany Tenpenny and husband, Scott, and Allyson Kline and fiance, Ryan Marick; and nine great-grandchildren, Marissa Battin, Myranda Miller, Maggie Miller, Joseph Miller, Claire Miller, Ryan Fulcher, Rebecca Fulcher, Colt Tenpenny, and Roc Tenpenny.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her twin-sister, Joan Siebert.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael Marion officiating. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Jean's family wishes to extend a special thank you to her caregivers from Loving Care, Cassie, Sydni, and Chaunzey.
