Jane English McCone

Jane Nancy English McCone, 92, of McPherson, and formerly of Crowley, TX, Pine Bluff, AR, and Monahans, TX, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at Memorial Hospital, McPherson.

She was born on February 26, 1917, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of Elbert Hartwell English, Sr. and Mabel (Hammett) English. On July 16, 1939, she was united in marriage to James Thomas McCone, Sr. in Pine Bluff, AR. He preceded her in death on August 28, 1989. She received her Master's Degree from Texas Women's University in Denton, TX. She was a retired Language Arts school teacher.

A private memorial service will take place in Dallas, Texas. The final resting place will be at Bellewood Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

She is survived by: daughters, Jane English McCone of San Diego, CA, Mabel Virginia "Majen" McCone Gibson and husband, Greg, of Coppell, TX, and Julia Carolyn Ivers and husband, Calvin, of McPherson, KS; sons, James Thomas McCone, Jr. and wife, Mary Jo, of Crowley, TX and Peyton Gill McCone and wife, Patricia Gail Murphree, of San Angelo, TX; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Elbert Hartwell English, Jr., and sisters, Sue Marion English Pettus and Julia Ann English Irwin.
