Harold Janzen

Harold J. Janzen, 80, of McPherson, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was retired from the NCRA Refinery where he worked as an operator in the Alkylation Unit. He also owned and operated City Ice Service in McPherson prior to working at NCRA.

Harold was born on September 30, 1929, in Hydro, Oklahoma, the son of John D. and Katie (Pauls) Janzen. He attended Inman High School. On November 24, 1950, he was united in marriage to Donna Sue Flood in McPherson, KS.

Harold was a member of the First Baptist Church, McPherson Men's Bowling Assn., O.C.A.W. Local 5-558, and was a former baseball umpire for Babe Ruth and American Legion Baseball programs.

The funeral service is at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 29, 2010, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Les Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation is from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

Survivors include: wife, Donna of the home; daughter, Lynnette Sherman and husband, Kevin, of McPherson; sons, Craig Janzen of Wichita, KS, Mark Janzen of McPherson, KS, Joel Janzen and wife, Vicki, of Pottsboro, TX, and Matthew Janzen and wife, Danette, of McPherson, KS; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Gertrude Vansickle, and a great-grandson, Connor.
