Gustav Hiebert

Gustav "Gus" Hiebert, 88, of Little River and formerly of Windom and McPherson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River. He was a retired construction worker and backhoe operator.

Gus was born on May 23, 1924, in Goessel, KS, the son of Peter and Sara (Schmidt) Hiebert. He was united in marriage to Opal E. (Morgan) Hunley in Huntsville, AR on July 3, 1965. She preceded him in death on July 23, 1982.

Survivors include: step-daughter, Bertha "Bert" Long and husband, Roy, of Windom, KS; step-daughter-in-law, Charlene Hunley of Columbus, KS; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Herman Hiebert, sister, Elvina Schultz, and two step-sons, Ray and Marvin Hunley.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 30, 2012, at Tabor Mennonite Church Cemetery in rural Newton, KS. There will be no visitation.
