Gloria Thompson

Gloria V. Thompson, 82, of McPherson and formerly of Hutchinson, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Memorial Hospital. She had been a McPherson resident since 1975 and was a homemaker and retired restaurant owner & operator.

She was born July 14, 1927, in Lindsborg, Kansas to Charley and Louise (Writer) Johnson. On October 2, 1943, she was united in marriage to Aubrey L. Thompson. He preceded her in death on September 7. 1987.

Gloria was a member of the First Christian Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Survivors include: three daughters, Jerilyn Morris (Gary) of Henrietta, TX, Doris Jerde (Dick) of Hutchinson, and Linda Richardson (Don) of McPherson; a sister, Ellinore Morrow of McPherson; 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Shirley Weems of McPherson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Alvin, Gerald, and Carl Johnson, and a great-grandson, Curtis McCracken.
