Erna J. Jantz, 94, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at The Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson. She was a homemaker, and from 1940 to 1951 she also was a Medical Secretary at Axtell Clinic in Newton.

She was born on June 3, 1918, in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer J. and Sadie M. (Byler) White. She graduated from Newton High School in 1938. On May 29, 1940, Erna was united in marriage to Melvin E. Jantz in Hesston, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1987.

Erna was a member of the McPherson Church of the Brethren, McPherson Hospital Auxiliary, and the City Planning & Zoning Commission.

Survivors include: her two sons, Jon Jantz (Lori Whitehill) of McPherson, Kansas and Fred Jantz (Diane) of Denver, Colorado; brother, Dale White of Hesston, Kansas; and numerous nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and nine siblings.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at the McPherson Church of the Brethren with Rev. Chris Whitacre officiating. A graveside service will precede the memorial service at 9:00 AM, Wednesday, at the Eastlawn Cemetery in Zimmerdale, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, December 4, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
