Elsie Norris

Elsie Norris, 88, of McPherson, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2008, at Harry Hynes Inpatient Care Unit at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita, KS.? She was born on December 19, 1919, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of James B. and Ruth H. (Gordon) Gurtler.? She had lived in McPherson, KS most of her life, spending her early years in Topeka, KS.? She graduated from McPherson High School in the Class of 1938.? On October 30, 1938, she was united in marriage to Howard L. Norris at Parsons, KS. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1980.?? She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Oriental Chapter #58 - Order of the Eastern Star, holding numerous offices including Worthy Matron, Fortnightly Club, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and was a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, April 18, 2008, at the First Christian Church, McPherson.? Burial will be at the McPherson Cemetery.? Visitation is scheduled Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.?

Her survivors include: daughters, Marna Goranson and Lee Norris, both of Wichita, KS; three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.? She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, a daughter, Sheila Finkle, a brother, George Gurtler, and a sister, Vivian Armor-Woll.?
