Elbert E. "Al" Rivett, 90, of McPherson, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2013. He was a retired pipeline worker, working for M.E. White Construction and Mitchell Construction.

Al was born on February 7, 1923, in Downers Grove, Illinois, the son of Charles and Lena (Jenkins) Rivett. He was united in marriage to Margaret L. Lingle in 1944 in McPherson.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #24 and the First United Methodist Church.

Al was a loyal, devoted, and caring husband for 68 years. He loved all his grandkids deeply. He loved to tell war stories and stories about the first time he met Margaret. He was a wonderful neighbor and loved to lend a helping hand to those in need. The family takes great comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his daughter, Linda.

Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Rivett of McPherson, KS; son-in-law, Jim Becker and wife, Charlotte, of McPherson, KS; four grandchildren, Joelle Maxwell and husband, Scott, of Salina, KS, Julie Krell of Decatur, IL, Jeff Becker of McPherson, KS, and Jill Brunsell of McPherson, KS; and five great-grandchildren, Lindsey Maxwell of Salina, KS, Andrew Maxwell of Salina, KS, Jordan Krell of Decatur, IL, Jerrica Krell of Decatur, IL, and Ava Jean Brunsell of McPherson, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Linda J. Becker, and a sister, Alice Mae Austin.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Rice Ratzlaff and Rev. Harold Nelson officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
