Dorothy J. Walters, 83, of McPherson passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She had worked as a clerk for the McPherson Co-op Credit Union, as a library assistant for U.S.D. 418, and was a quilter extraordinaire.

She was born on October 18, 1929, the daughter of John D. and Edna C.(Ross) Brehm in Culbertson, NE. She graduated from Wichita North High School in 1948. On June 29, 1949, Dorothy was united in marriage to Ralph C. Walters in Wichita, KS. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2007.

Dorothy was a member of First Christian Church, Oriental Chapter #58-Order of the Eastern Star, TOPS Club, and Domestic Dames FCE.

Survivors include: son, John Walters and fiancé, Sue Bailey, of McPherson, KS; daughter, Lorie Pope of Oregon; granddaughter, Katie Pope of Oregon; and brother, Don Brehm and wife, Emmy, of Sarasota, FL.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 12, 2013, at First Christian Church, McPherson with Rev. Lynn Scott officiating. Burial will follow at the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
