Dorothy Louise Folmnsbee was born to Christian(Christ) and Ruth Swisher Ade on Sunday, January 16, 1927, at her parent's farm located north of Roxbury, Kansas, in McPherson County. She was the only daughter and the second of three children. On Saturday, September 19 ,2009, she died at the age of 82 at her home in McPherson.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Warren E. Ade; and a grandson Andrew Christian Hudson.

Dorothy attended Hope School and graduated valedictorian from Roxbury High School in 1944. During the summer of 1944, she attended Bethany College in Lindsborg attaining a teaching certificate. She taught at Greenwood School, east of her home from 1944-1945.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Partners in Christ Sunday School class, an active member in the Deborah Circle of UMW, and a member of the Tuesday afternoon quilting group.

On January 18, 1945, she married Eldon E. Folmnsbee, at her parents' home north of Roxbury. He survives. Other survivors include: a son, Gary Folmnsbee and wife, Cathy, of Oklahoma City,OK, a daughter, Christine Hudson and husband, Tom, of McPherson,KS ; one brother, Don Ade and wife, Janice, of Gypsum,KS; seven grandchildren, Keri Cupp and husband, Sean, of Lawrence, KS; Brad Hudson of McPherson, KS; David Folmnsbee and wife, Danna, of Dallas, TX; Brett Hudson, of Castle Rock, CO; Anna Folmnsbee of Dallas, TX; Amy Gilkey and husband, Adam, of McPherson, KS; and John Folmnsbee of Kansas City, MO; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for the family will be at Temple Church, Gypsum with Rev. Harold Nelson, presiding. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of McPherson with Rev. Karen Rice Ratzlaff, presiding. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, McPherson in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home.
