David Eckert

David Eckert

David John Eckert, 54, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Liberal, KS and Hutchinson, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2013, surrounded by his family at his home in McPherson. He was a truck driver for 30 years, and most recently had worked for Farmland Industries and Cenex.

He was born on November 27, 1958, in Lawrence, KS, the son of John and Yvonne (Robb) Eckert. He graduated from Osawatomie High School. On June 14, 1991, David was united in marriage to JoDee L. Hollman in Hutchinson, KS. This union was blessed with a daughter, Crystal.

David attended First United Methodist Church, McPherson and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine Club, both of Dodge City, KS.

David was a simple man with his priorities in the right place. He worked hard to provide for his family, trucking for 30 years. David was a family man and the love that he shared with his daughter and family will forever be in their hearts.

Among his hobbies, David enjoyed radio control racing, hunting deer and birds, and motorcycling. He and JoDee often would travel the highways of Kansas on his Honda Goldwing.

David will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Survivors include: his wife, JoDee of the home; daughter, Crystal Eckert of Hays, KS; father, John Eckert of Hutchinson, KS; uncles, Alan Robb, Curtis Robb, and Steve Robb; aunt, Joanne Whelchel; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Gerald and Billye Jo Hollman of Colorado Springs, CO; brother-in-law, James Hollman and his son, Tristan, of Colorado Springs, CO; and cousins, John Whelchel and Chris Whelchel.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 5, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
