Clarence Russell

Clarence H. Russell, 93, of Galva, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Memorial Hospital in McPherson. He was a farmer and also worked as an Extrusion Foreman at CertainTeed Plastics prior to retirement.

Clarence was born in Galva, Kansas on May 20, 1917, the son of Benjamin Harrison and Emma Lillian (Beyer) Russell. Clarence graduated from Galva High School. On June 4, 1939, he was united in marriage to Ruth L. Colwell in McPherson, Kansas. She preceded him in death on October 9, 1980.

Clarence was a member of the First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge #172, McPherson Shrine Club, Felicity Chapter #371 Order of the Eastern Star (Lindsborg), Isis Shrine Temple (Salina), and the Wichita Scottish Rite.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 5, at the First Christian Church, McPherson. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Survivors include: two daughters, Carolyn Gibson and husband, Thurlow, of Lindsborg and Jeannine Eberspacher of Wichita; a brother, Chester Russell, Sr. and wife, Doris, of Galva; a sister, Edna Mae Peterson of Lindsborg; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, a sister, Arlene Russell, and a granddaughter, Brenda Pennington.
