Carl Swanson

C. Russell Swanson, 89, formerly of Windom, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River, KS. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired farmer.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Theresa Forshee officiating. Burial will be in the Windom Cemetery with Masonic Rites and Military Honors. Visitation is from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A reception will be held at the Windom United Methodist Church following the burial.

Survivors include: wife, Phyllis of the home; daughters, Cathe Peters of Windom, KS and Dara Lea Hoffman (Joe) of Lindsborg, KS; eight foster children; brother, Edward Swanson of Hutchinson, KS; sister, Inez Koch of Hutchinson, KS; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Julia (Peterson) Swanson; daughters, Carla Cannon and Mona Rhae King, granddaughter, Danielle Clement, and brothers, George and Elmer Swanson.
