Bessie Mantz

Bessie Mae Mantz, 85, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at the McPherson Care Center. She was a retired restaurant waitress and hostess, working at several establishments in McPherson. She also volunteered at the Save & Share Store in McPherson.

Bessie was born on November 5, 1924, in Larned, Kansas, the daughter of Merne and Lola Belle (Hagar) Robinson. She graduated from Larned High School in 1943. On October 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Leo Mantz in Miami, Oklahoma.

She was a member of the Free Methodist Church and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the McPherson Free Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Griffith officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery.

Survivors include: her husband, Leo of the home; daughters, Connie Luttig (Ronald) of McPherson, Sherry Nobert of McPherson, Nancy Hull (Aaron) of Moses Lake, WA, Kim Ishler (Floyd) of Jetmore, and Jan Shober (Rod) of Inman; brothers, Bob Robinson (Mary) of Ray, CO, Keith Robinson (Sandy) of Larned, Jim Robinson of Larned, and Elvin Robinson of Missouri; sisters, Ruby Stevens of Larned, Peggy Martin of Larned, Donna Belle Burns of Great Bend, and Betty Ann Dotson of Wichita; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Jeff, grandsons, Mike & Mark Luttig, brothers, Irvin & Elroy Robinson, and a sister, Dorothy Boatman.
