Arthur Earl “Art” Chapman, 75, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2014, at McPherson Care Center. He was a self-employed mechanic. He was also the owner and upholsterer for “Art’s Upholstery”.

Art was born on February 10, 1938, in Lyons, KS, the son of Virgil C. and Lillian Pauline (Watson) Chapman. He attended McPherson High School. On November 17, 1956, he was united in marriage to Barbara J. Vogel in McPherson, KS at Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was a member of New Gottland Lutheran Church, Moonlighter’s C.B. Club, and long-time former member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Barbara of the home; step-mother, Rozella Chapman of McPherson, KS; daughters, Beverly Regehr (Wayne) of Inman, KS; Tammy Nuce of McPherson, KS; and Jeanie Seely (James) of McPherson, KS; son, Arthur Chapman, II (Lisa) of McPherson, KS; brothers, Kenneth Chapman (Robin) of Gallatin, TN, and Danny Roadenbaugh of Mulvane, KS; nine grandchildren, Angela Trask (Marcus) of McPherson, KS, Matthew Nuce (Mindy) of Hesston, KS, Mackenzie Whitney (Cornel) of Conley, GA, Madison Ritcha (Brandon) of Kingman, KS, Jacob Seely of McPherson, KS, Delaney Seely of McPherson, KS, Izaac Chapman, III of McPherson, KS, Celeste Chapman of McPherson, KS, and Tucker Chapman of McPherson, KS; eight great-grandchildren, Gavin Roth, Logan Roth, Mikayla Roth, Brooklyn Trask, Avery Nuce, Caiden Whitney, Cameron Whitney, and Waylon Ritcha.

He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil C. Chapman, mother, Lillian P. Roadenbaugh, and sister, Linda Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, January 10, 2014, at New Gottland Lutheran Church with Rev. Harry Grinstad officiating. Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date in the McPherson Cemetery.
