Adolph Ollek

Adolph Ollek was born January 4, 1914, in Menno Township, three miles south of Lehigh, KS. He died February 11, 2006, at Memorial Hospital, McPherson. He was the son of Edward Ollek and Maria Schultz Ollek. When he was five years old, his family purchased land a mile north of Lehigh, where he spent his childhood. Adolph later farmed this land for a short time. He attended school in the Lehigh school system.

On October 4, 1936, he was married to Laura Haas. This union was blessed with one daughter, Lois Elaine. Adolph served in the South Pacific Theatre during WWII and served with the Army of Occupation in Japan. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2715, American Legion Post No. 24 and the Atomic Veterans Assn.

In 1958, his work took him from Marion County to McPherson. He retired from Kansas Department of Transportation in 1979 and, in his retirement years, was employed part-time at McPherson Memorial Hospital.

Adolph was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, McPherson, having served on the building committee and continuing his membership until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and three sisters. Survivors include: his wife, Laura of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Glenn Lorei, Lee's Summit, MO; grandson, Jason Lorei, and wife, Crystal, Lee's Summit, MO; grandson, Ryan Lorei, Kansas City, MO; great-grandson, Jacob Ryan Lorei; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at Grace Lutheran Church, McPherson with Pastor Dale Dumperth officating. Burial will be in the Lehigh Township Cemetery, Lehigh, KS. Visitation is scheduled Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at Grace Lutheran Church from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
