Abe Nikkel

Abe E. Nikkel, 93, of Inman, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge. He was a minister, farmer, and woodworker.

Abe was born on October 28, 1918, in Hillsboro, KS, the son of Peter M. and Kathryn (Ensz) Nikkel. He was united in marriage to Annie Friesen on Nov. 23, 1941, in Inman, KS. She died on Nov. 12, 1984. He married Delma G. Friesen on June 9, 1985, in Inman, KS

He was a member of Zion Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Inman.

Survivors include: his wife, Delma of the home; son, Lavern and wife, Ruth Nikkel, of Inman, Kansas; daughters, Bertha and husband, William Wadel, of Farmington, Kentucky and Irene and husband, Percy Toews, of McPherson, Kansas; brother, Jona and wife, Diana Nikkel, of Greenville, North Carolina; sisters, Margaret Friesen of Moundridge, Kansas; brothers-in-law, Harvey Becker of Georgia and Frank Giesbrecht of Stapleton, Georgia; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wedel of Moundridge, Kansas; 14 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Irvin Nikkel, and sisters, Lena Becker, Edna Isaac, Elda Friesen, and Darlene Giesbrecht.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 19, 2012, at Zion Church of God in Christ, Inman, with Ministers Maynard Koehn and Gregg Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, at Zion Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.
